Dupe alert! Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow is a dupe for By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock!

Yes, what you’ve read in the title is all true!  I’ve found a dupe for the famous By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock which I talked about recently and even though I love it, the fact that it creases on me and only me it seems is enough for me not to shell out €30 again for another one! Joanne was a very good sister and brought me back some Kiko goodies from her honeymoon and as soon as I saw the Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in the shade 05 Rosy Brown and swatched it, I squeaked because it looked like a dupe for Misty Rock.  The eyeshadow stick I’d searched high and low for… She bought me three and I love them.  They’re all completely worth the €6.90 price tag and even better, Rosy Brown performs exactly the same as Misty Rock on me.

A recent independent study (consisting of me wearing the Kiko shadow on one eye and the By Terry on the other to work) showed results far beyond my expectations!  *Study involved me standing in front of my workmates and asking them which eye they preferred and then writing their response on a post it.*

I’m not going to lie, I can’t remember which swatch is which… One is Kiko and one is By Terry… That’s all I got!

The scientific tests showed that the girls at work weren’t able to tell much of a difference between my two eyes when I wore the Kiko shadow on one eye and the By Terry on the other.  It was only when I asked them which eye they preferred that they realised I was wearing different makeup on each eye and even at that, most of them asked “Is it not the same?” to which I replied “Why fank you, that has solidified my thoughts that it’s a proper dupe” and then the proper close up investigations began.

In terms of application, they feel exactly the same on the eye.  When I put on a thick layer, they look almost identical, the Kiko version being every so slightly darker on the outer edges.  Until they set, they both feel slightly sticky but blend easily.  And once they set, they don’t budge a bit.

Blended in, using a fluffy brush or my finger gives a pretty wash of colour all over the lids and again, they look nearly identical.  This is how I wear them most days because they give definition to the eye without being too much, especially for work.

They perform identically too –  both crease on my lids after a couple of hours and as I mentioned in my By Terry review recently, most things crease on me whether I use a primer or not.  But hey, I’d rather spend just under €7 rather than €30 on something that’s going to crease and in spite of said issue with creasing, I love wearing them.  For those of you with non scaldy eyelids like mine, if the By Terry Ombre Blackstars don’t crease on you, then neither should the Kiko versions.  They both make a great base for powder shadows and can be used as a liner, smudged along the upper or lower lashes.

So because Misty Rock creased on me and only me it looks like, for those of you without scaldy crease-y lids, Kiko is the way to go.  Cheap as chips at €6.90 and let me do a bit of Girlie Maths for you, buy four of these for the price of one By Terry eyeshadow stick.  I’ve put myself on a strict makeup budget for the next few months so if (when) I break ranks and need to buy something, I’ll be trying more of these guys.

A grand dupe altogether and you can buy them on the Kiko website.  Bravo Kiko and thanks for helping me save future money!
